A Budget-Friendly Guide to Getting from Miami International Airport to South Beach

August 23, 2024 1 Comment

Looking to explore South Beach without breaking the bank? You’re in luck! Let me will show you how to get from Miami International Airport (MIA) to South Beach for just $2.25.

How to get to South Beach from Miami Airport for $2.25 using public transport

The Route: MIA Mover and Metrobus

The key to this budget-friendly journey is utilizing a combination of the free MIA Mover and the Metrobus.

  • MIA Mover: This free, automated people mover system connects the airport’s terminals. It’s a convenient way to get around the airport and reach the Metrobus station.
  • Metrobus Route 150 (Miami Beach Airport Express): This route provides direct service from the airport to South Beach. A one-way fare costs $2.25.

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Board the MIA Mover: Head to the central terminal on the third level and take the MIA Mover to the Metrobus station.
  2. Catch the Metrobus: Once at the Metrobus station, look for Route 150. Board the bus and pay the $2.25 fare.
  3. Enjoy South Beach: The Metrobus will drop you off at various stops along South Beach. Choose the one that’s closest to your desired destination.

Tip: Ask your hotel for the closest stop to get off. My hotel was on Collins Ave and I had to get off at Washington Avenue for the nearest stop!

Tips for Your Journey:

  • Check bus schedules: Before your trip, verify the Metrobus schedule to ensure you catch the right bus.
  • Bring a map: A map of South Beach can help you navigate the area once you arrive.
  • Consider a day pass: If you plan to use the Metrobus multiple times during your stay, a day pass might be more economical.

By following these steps, you can enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of South Beach without spending a fortune on transportation. So, pack your bags and get ready for a memorable experience!
