After the wonderful response to the first DIY Craft Kit review and giveaway from Jumboo, I am back with another fun and creative kit! Jumboo Funny Characters kit is a great way for kids to create decorations for their room. It was also a great way to bond with my son 🙂
Here’s my full review of this fabulous kit and a chance for you to win one!
Contents
Just like Hand Puppets, this kit also contains precisely pre-cut shapes for little hands to put together. It comes with everything needed to make 5 cute characters. Four of these are creatures and one is a flower. The contents needed to make each character are neatly packed in separate, clear packages.
The kit includes 5 extremely thick cardboard circles to make the characters upon. They ensure that the character created is sturdy and can be used anywhere without the danger of tearing or spoiling it’s shape.
A step-by-step instruction sheet is also included.
How to:
You and your children will only need to look at the instruction sheet only for the first time. After that, even the kids can do it on their own. They might need to refer to the images of the completed characters on the box for details, but that is all. Hand them that bottle of glue and see how they get busy making these paper critters.
We started with the bat first – and it is the cutest bat ever! Big sis was not at home, so I showed my son how to get started. In no time, he was on his own. I was armed with a wet cloth to wipe away any traces of glue on the table, mind you! Covering the table with newspaper turned out to be a bad idea because the glue would stick to the newspaper. Anyways, once he realized that the glue was to be applied a little within the edges, we hardly had any mess except one or two drops here and there.
Once the bat and the flower (presented to dear little sis) was done, there was no stopping my boy! He was on a roll. He completed all the creatures in one go!
We goofed up with the frog… But what the heck! It was still fun!
Of course, he made mistakes! See that frog above? He realized a little late that the eyes of the frog were meant to go above the head…lol! But he was still proud of being able to create all the characters by himself and so was I. I hope all my kids become craft lovers. There is nothing as satisfying as being able to craft something.
Back to our characters, it was time for the fun part. How to use them? First of all, we had to have a puppet show. My son loves doing puppet shows as you must have seen here. When we were done with the show, it was time to display the masterpieces!
Kids Room Decor with Paper Animals
The first idea was, as the package suggests, to turn them into Fridge Magnets. But I did not have any magnets at hand. Perhaps, it would be a good idea if they were included in the package. So, we headed to the kids room and created a fun and colorful wall decor display above my son’s study table!
And there they stay making the room bright and cheerful! The flower was excluded from this decor as my son found it too ‘girly’. We put it up by his little sister’s bed.
