The Best Baby Body Wash in India

March 14, 2017 53 Comments

After the war of diapers, it’s time for a war of the body washes available to Indian moms! I have used a wide range of body washes for my 3 kids and have some definitive thoughts to share. Let’s check out the most popular ones and the best baby body wash in India.

The Best Baby Body Wash in India

Top Baby Body Wash Brands in India

Over the last 11 years, I have tried many different baby body wash brands in my quest to find the best. ‘Quest to find the best‘ – wasn’t intentional, but I love how that rhymes! I gave up using baby soap a long time ago. Ever since I discovered body washes, I have never really used soap for my baby ever.

Here are some of the baby body wash brands that I have used ending with the best baby body wash brand in India. All of the are for newborn babies and up.

Himalaya Herbals Extra Moisturizing Baby Wash – Good for Normal Skin

Whenever you are in doubt of a baby product or your baby is prone to sensitive skin, switch to Himalaya. Their gentle baby bath is mild with a lovely fragrance. It has a gel like texture and cleans skin very well. It does not double as a shampoo though. They have a separate shampoo product.

Johnson’s CottonTouch Newborn Baby Head-To-Toe Bath – Paraben Free J&J product

If you are a Johnson’s baby lover, you might already have tried this one. While the classic Top-to-Toe wash remains a favorite, the Johnson’s CottonTouch is sure to have it’s own fans. After the big hit that Johnson & Johnson took due to the lawsuits, it was great to see them changing their tune to the new trends and launching paraben and sls-free baby products. The CottonTouch range is a testimony to their leadership in Baby products.

Mamaearth Deeply nourishing wash for babies – Good Choice Overall

A very good product and an Indian brand, at a slightly higher price than Johnson’s and Himalaya. If you don’t mind the price, Mamaearth Baby Wash is a very good chemical-free choice for babies. And the price is actually much more competitive when compared to the international brands on this list.

Chicco Baby Moments Gentle Body Wash And Shampoo – Great for Dry Skin in Babies

Chicco suited very well for my baby with slightly dry skin. It is a great deal above all others if you are looking for the best baby body wash for dry skin. If J&J upsets your baby, and Aveeno, Sebamed and Cetaphil are too expensive, Chicco would be your best bet!

The Moms Co. Natural Baby Body Wash – Best Overall Baby Body Wash

I have been a fan of The Moms Co baby products , especially their baby body lotion and had to try the body wash. From another Indian brand, The Moms Co baby wash smells lovely due to the organic oils present in it. No complaints with this one. I loved the quality. It is also completely paraben-free.

Aveeno Baby Wash & Shampoo – Best for Sensitive Baby Skin

*The Absolute Best, but Pricy*

Aveeno Baby Wash and Shampoo

Aveeno Baby has been my favorite brand ever since my son was born with sensitive skin. All the regular baby products which we were using were changed to suit his skin. Aveeno Baby Wash & Shampoo is perfect for babies with dry and sensitive skin. It is expensive when compared to others (INR 1500+ for 500 ml) but when nothing else suits, just go for this one.

Sebamed Baby Wash Extra Soft – Loved all over the World

*One of the Best, but Pricey*

Sebamed is world renowned and a favorite with mothers all over the world. And not without a reason – it really is the best. If money is not an issue and you want nothing but the best for your baby, try Sebamed. At INR 399 for just 200 ml, it can be pretty steep for many.

Sebamed Baby Wash Extra Soft

Sebamed Baby Wash Extra Soft

Cetaphil Baby Wash – Top Notch

*Top of the Line, but Expensive*

One of the more expensive baby body wash in India, but comes with all the goodness that Cetaphil products are known for. If you are struggling with dry skin problems in your baby, try their soap free body washes with glycerine, calendula etc. My winter babies loved it and I myself use it as a face wash at times!

The Best Baby Body Wash in India

Disclaimer: Our babies might have different needs. What was best for me might not be the best for your baby. I am only listing here what worked best for me and what I actually use month after month for my baby.

Other than it’s features and results, this choice is also based upon the price factor. While I would prefer nothing but Aveeno or Sebamed if money was not an issue, I choose not to spend a thousand bucks on baby wash every month. So, I mostly stick to my no. 1 choice:

Johnson’s Top to Toe Wash

*Dependable, Affordable, Irritation-free, Over all Best*

There you have it! When in doubt, choose a classic! I have been using this almost non-stop for over 6 years. Only a month or two in between, when I have to try out the new brand, do I skip a month. Lately, I have become partial to Sebamed, but the classic top-to-toe wash can always be depended upon, when you do not want to experiment. Johnson’s Top to Toe Wash has been with me from newborn to preschool age. Only after my son was old enough to receive his ‘Marvel Avengers Shower Gel’ did he stop using it – and by that time his little sister had started using it.

  • I have run into no problems using it.
  • It works wonders on babies with dry and sensitive skin.
  • It removes the oil from massaging very well and the skin does not feel dry at all.
  • The 500 ml bottle comes with a handy dispenser which is a life-saver when you are bathing babies. Your hands are never free!
  • This bottle is a staple on my monthly grocery list 🙂
  • At INR 327, it does not blow my budget at all.
  • Doubles as both body wash and shampoo. Less hassles!
  • The one we get in India does not contain SLS.

Final Words

Once again, if Aveeno baby bath was available for any price near Johnson’s INR 327, I would have voted it the best. But all things considered, Johnson’s Top to Toe Wash remains the best. The Himalaya Extra Moisturizing Baby Wash is also a HUGE favorite and comes within the same price range. Also, mild and sweet-smelling  The Mom’s Co Natural Baby Bath, which is also toxin-free, could become a huge favorite with Indian moms too! I will update the post if any major change takes place 🙂

I have tired 3 brands for my baby. Best & suitable for my son is Johnson top – to – toe. In kutch summer is very rough & zumi face summer boilers. Which make him feel irritating. Top to toe baby wash keep his skin soft & moistures. Which help to recover from summer boilers.

My little angel was born with a very sensitive skin & from the start v know that v had to go extra mile for her. With lot of search on the net aveeno body wash & shampoo catches my attention. Through a bit expensive i don’t want to compromise on quality. Aveeno suited so well that her rashes & red spots are invisible in one week. Her super dry skin becomes soft & supple leaving a dewy feeling, I am so happy with the product that I would recommend every first time mom who are sensitive & can go extra mile for her kids.
Recently I have started using Palmers body wash which also suits dry skin but I still miss d touch of aveeno on my angels skin

Since I’ve been a user of Sebamed since my 8mo’s birth, I was reluctant to change the brand. But then I realized Sebamed despite being one of the bests burns a deep hole in the pocket. This is when I fell in love with the pristine beauty called Chicco body wash. I was quick to notice the bottle because of its angelic white body and quickly picked it up from the counter. Just when I read it’s alcohol-free and paraben-free, I knew I found the right product.
Our first bath with the clear body wash was a treasured experience – no synthetic smells, foamy yet moisturising, and the priceless knowledge that it’s free of harmful chemicals.
So, Chicco it is for me!
