Jumboo Hand Puppets Wild Review
In the week full of holidays, when everyone was taking off for a vacation, we stayed home and enjoyed a lot of indoor and outdoor activities. I am a crafty mom and try to promote crafts with my kids too. So one cold and wet afternoon, we opened the lovely box sent in by Jumboo and dived in!
It was not long before we made a hand puppet for a school project (wish I had received this craft kit then!) and the kids couldn’t wait to make some more. This Hand Puppets kit contains all the material you will need to make 4 different wild animal hand puppets.
All the material is pre-cut to precision and your kids will love gluing on the various parts of the animals. The contents to create each animal puppet is neatly packaged in individual clear polythene envelopes. The smaller parts i.e. the details, eyes, spots, nose, whiskers etc. are in a separate packet within the individual packet for that animal. Very organized!
I would advise opening the envelope for one animal at a time so that the little parts don’t get mixed up. There isn’t much chance of that happening because all the animals have very different features, but why take a risk?
The first step is where the little ones will need some help. The base of the puppet needs to be created by folding the pre-cut card paper like a box. All instructions are provided and you won’t even have to look the instruction sheet to figure out this part. Older kids will figure out how to do this on their own.
Then begins the fun part. Using the glue tube provided in the craft kit, the kids begin gluing the pre-cut paper parts. Soon, the animal begins to take shape.
Once the colorful puppets are made, the pretend play fun begins!
My Thoughts
Crafting a such a stress relieving activity, even for the kids. It not only encourages them to be creative, but also channelizes their energy into something worthwhile while sitting indoors. Away from the TV and mobile phone, the kids sat down for hours creating their puppets and then playing with them. And my son is surely never going to get confused about whether a tiger has stripes or spots!
I loved how engaging and fun this activity was. The pre-cut shapes made it easy to avoid all the blunders and dangers of cutting. Although it is recommended for ages 5 and up, I think younger ones will need help from an older sibling or their parents. It would have been easier for little hands had the pre-cut shapes been stickers.
The educational value of this craft kit is very high and the details on each puppet are perfectly matched to real animals. The bright colors keep the kids interested in the activity and not once did I see either of the two getting bored. A wonderful gift for your children or their friends!
