Crafty Chimp Sand Art Jungle Safari – Review + Giveaway

I love to save the best for the last! My kids were so excited about creating their own ‘sand art’ animals that I decided to leave the Crafty Chimp Sand Art Jungle Safari for the end. Their wait finally came to an end and here I am with a full review and a giveaway too!

Crafty Chimp Sand Art Jungle Safari is a fun filled craft kit for kids of ages 5 and above. It contains a fuss-free kit to help kids make their own sand art. And not just random sand art either (although they can, if they want to). The kit contains enough materials to make sand art wild animals and comes with foam faces to complete the animals.

Crafty Chimp Sand Art Jungle Safari Contents

Here’s what you will find in the box:

1. Several colors of sand, packaged neatly in lock packages
2. Empty plastic bottles to make the art in
3. Funnel and Spoon to pour the sand into the bottles
4. Foam pieces and accessories to make animal faces.
5. Glue
6. Instruction Manual

Your kids will only need one glimpse at the instruction sheet to get started. The pictures are self explanatory and there is no need to be very precise.

Making Sand Art Animals

The fun begins with pouring layer after layer of different colored sand in the bottle using the provided spoon and funnel. Some very ways to create stripes, spots, slanting stripes etc. are mentioned in the instruction sheet.

There! We already completed the tiger’s sand art body in no time.

Time to give it a proper face now. Gluing together the different parts of the face will give you a foam animal face.

Glue it on to the bottle cap and your sand art tiger is almost done. There is also a tail to make your sand art animal look real. Glue it to the behind and you are done. There’s our first sand art creation 🙂

In no time, the kids made the other 2 animals shown on the cover too!

While the kit only contains faces for these 3 animals, there is plenty of sand to make other animals too. My kids have found plastic shampoo bottles (travel size) and are planning to make a Zebra using black and white sand next! We plan to draw or print out a zebra face.

This is a really satisfying craft idea. You simply cannot go wrong (except if you shake the bottle after creating your art!). Our monkey and deer are too colorful to be real and still look good. Those were done by my 5 year old. And details like making stripes or spots helps the children memorize them so well that they are not likely to forget which animal has what! It is not a surprise that practical education works so much better than theoretical alone.
