I have been using my new Moto X Play for the last 8 months now and am quite frankly – in Love! I have been through iPhone and Samsung and finally to Moto X Play and it is going to take quite a storm in the tech industry to top this phone. I share today my favorite things about this fabulous phone.
I need a Super Smartphone!
If you have read my post on the apps on my phone, you will know what kind of baggage I carry around in my phone. I won’t be exaggerating at all if I told you I carry on 80% of my professional work and at least 60% of my housework through my phone.
My previous phones were either too complicated (3 steps to switch on the flashlight?) or froze entirely when I tried to edit a picture and post it on social media or when playing a game that required a lot of memory. I was trying to get used to working in these conditions when a decision to buy a new phone turned out to become a life changing decision – at least as dramatically life changing as using a smartphone for the first time was.
I will try to explain in these seven points why I love my Moto X Play:
1. Magic Words – Okay Moto!
Moto X Play responds to your voice! My catchphrase is ‘Okay Moto’ and as soon as you say the words, the phone – even when it is far from you – responds immediately. Now, you can give further commands like searching something on Google or calling someone. This ‘Touchless Control’ is a wonderful feature when your hands are full with the kids or you are driving. I have mostly used it to place calls and my kids have made me use it for every possible command there is, just for fun! Take a Selfie … Remind Me to … Send a Text to … Open whatsapp…
2. Powerful Battery
I cannot even begin to thank the guys at Motorola for creating a phone with an exceptional battery life. Eight months into it, I still charge the phone only at night, and am able to get through the entire day when browsing on Mobile data continuously and 2-3 days on busier days when I use the phone for a relatively lesser duration.. And this, after considering that I only resort to my laptop when actually editing pictures or writing a post. Everything else from reading and replying to emails, shopping and updating social media is taken care of, on my phone.
3. Powerful Processor
Not just heavily graphic games like Temple Run or Candy Crush, but even graphic intensive apps like Pinterest, used to freeze in my previous phones. I have had no problems of the kind ever since I switched to Moto X Play. It has an Octa-Core processor and a 2GB RAM! Now, I simultaneously work in a video editor, upload pictures and browse apps without any delays or slow downs.
4. The Camera is the BEST yet
For the price you can get a Moto X Play for, it has the BEST camera! The 21 MP camera ensures that the pictures are bright, the colors beautiful and even the 5 MP self-facing camera is very good for taking selfies. It has plenty of built-in features of which I particularly love the delayed-start feature and the Night mode. The night mode makes a world of difference in your night time photography. And the phone also shoots much better videos than my video camera. It shoots 1080p HD videos that come out very lively!
And capturing a picture is so much easier. You just need to tap anywhere on the screen to capture. So handy when you have kids with you!
5. It is Cheaper than my Last Two Phones!
When I told my husband I needed to upgrade my phone and he recommended the Moto X Play, the first thing I did was to look up the price. I actually thought my husband had not really understood what I needed. I wanted an upgrade, not a downgrade. He smilingly showed me feature-by-feature comparisons of Moto X Play with other top brands and I realized that the best actually costs less. In all honestly, I never thought that to be possible!
6. Plenty of Storage
I like to carry my stuff around – everyone does. If you are a woman reading this, you will know how frustrating it is to pack lightly for travel because you are only allowed a certain amount of baggage.
In addition to the bug bunch of apps I have on my phone, I am an avid phoneographer too! I am sure every mom out there is, too. But I am a bloggy mom and together, between the kids and the blogs, there is hardly a day when I don’t take at least 10 pictures (an evening spent in the park or a dinner out can raise the number to 70). The kids are self-proclaimed experts too and there appear – without my knowledge – videos of the craziest stuff (a day in the life of a ceiling fan??) and silly acts.
All the data from the apps and all these pictures and videos make it a necessity to own a phone with plenty of storage to get through everyday life. Ever since buying Moto X Play, I have not once seen a system message for storage space. I only clear out my whatsapp pictures (Yes, I belong to more than one ‘shopping groups’) once a week.
Another great feature is that you have an option to treat the external Micro SD Card memory as internal memory. That gives you another 32 GB space!
7. Super Smart
Speaking of smartness, I don’t even know what features have been built in this phone to make it super smart. The phone actually cares for me and loves me back, it seems! It figures out my schedules, regular driving destinations, recognizes my voice and accent etc. Important things are so easy to find and achieve. You can activate the camera by the shake of your wrist, you can enable a sleep mode (the phone actually reminds you it’s time you should stop browsing and get some rest) and the flashlight can be activated in a second!
All in all, it has been a more than satisfying experience for me using the Moto X Play. Unless something really mind-blowing comes up, I am good! Which phone do you use? I will be glad to read your comments 🙂
