My Experience with the TakeTours East Coast Bus Tour (Mayi Tours) – Hassle-Free Way to See NYC, Philly & DC

April 30, 2025 by Lata 1 Comment

If you’re visiting the United States for the first time and want to explore major East Coast cities without planning every detail yourself, a guided bus tour might be your best bet. I recently went on the 6-Day East Coast Bus Tour with TakeTours.com (also known as Mayi Tours) and had a surprisingly smooth and exciting experience. Here’s a detailed breakdown of Day 1 of the tour, from arrival to the first round of sightseeing.

Why I Chose TakeTours (Mayi Tours) for My East Coast Trip

I found the 6-day tour on TakeTours.com and was impressed by the itinerary. It covers key destinations — New York City, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Niagara Falls, and Boston — with transportation and hotel stays included. For someone like me who didn’t want to drive, book multiple hotels, or figure out the logistics of sightseeing, this was the perfect hassle-free option.

I paid $550, which included a front-row seat surcharge (well worth the extra cost for better views). The base price includes comfortable AC coach transportation and hotel accommodations for five nights.

Note: Sightseeing attractions are not included and must be paid for separately. Also, there’s a mandatory $12 per person per day tip for the driver and guide.

Day 1: From NYC Arrival to DC via Philadelphia

Arrival and Hotel Stay

I landed at LaGuardia Airport (New York), where a representative from Mayi Tours was waiting to pick me up — no hunting for Ubers or navigating public transport. A definite plus! I was driven to Garden Executive Inn in South Plainfield, New Jersey, where I stayed the first night. The hotel was clean, quiet, and offered a good rest before the tour began the next day.

Complimentary Breakfast

On the morning of the tour, we were given breakfast coupons, which was a nice surprise, especially since meals aren’t included in the base price.

First Stops: Philadelphia and Washington D.C.

Philadelphia – Independence Hall

Our first sightseeing stop was in Philadelphia, where we visited Independence Hall, the birthplace of American democracy. It was a quick stop, but a great way to get a glimpse of US history.

Washington D.C. Day Trip

Washington D.C. – Choose Your Adventure

Upon reaching Washington D.C., we were offered two options:

  1. Guided Capitol Visit Tour

  2. Free Time to Explore on Your Own

I chose to skip the Capitol tour and instead ventured out to explore the U.S. Botanic Garden and the Capitol Buildinggrounds on my own. It was a peaceful and scenic experience, and I enjoyed the flexibility.

Later, I rejoined the group for the Washington D.C. City Tour, which covered:

  • Thomas Jefferson Memorial

  • Air Force Memorial in Virginia (with views of the Pentagon and Arlington National Cemetery)

  • Lincoln Memorial and the Reflecting Pool

  • U.S. Treasury Building

  • The White House (viewed from the perimeter)

It was a well-paced tour that gave us time to take photos, walk around, and enjoy each monument without feeling rushed.

Dinner Stop & Overnight Stay

We stopped for dinner at a restaurant arranged by the tour (not included in the package), and then checked in to the Four Points by Sheraton in York, Pennsylvania. All the hotels during the trip were well-known chains, clean, and comfortable.

First Impressions: Was It Worth It?

Absolutely! Here’s what I liked the most:

  • No planning stress — hotels and transport taken care of

  • Comfortable coach ride, especially from the front row

  • Decent hotels at every stop

  • Flexible sightseeing options for different interests

  • Well-organized and punctual itinerary

If you’re considering a TakeTours East Coast tour or looking for Mayi Tours reviews, I’d say this tour offers great value for money — especially for international travelers who want a quick, guided glimpse of the East Coast.

Final Tips

  • Budget extra for sightseeing tours and daily tips

  • Bring snacks and a water bottle for long bus days

  • If you’re picky about food, carry something vegetarian-friendly (meal options vary)

  • Book the front row seats early — the views make a big difference!

Stay tuned for Day 2, where we visit a Beautiful State Park and Niagara Falls!

I think doing something like this sounds really good, it’s a great way to travel and see the places that we really want to go to. I have a travel bucket list, and these tours would really help me tick a few places off!
