This Mother’s Day is going to be very special! I have been treated to some fabulous gifts by my kids who chose them from IGP.com. IGP or the Indian Gifts Portal is one of the largest online gifting portals in India. Today’s post is all about showing off my gifts, my experience with IGP and a lovely Mother’s Day surprise for you!
Gifts for Mom!
When IGP got in touch with me for Mother’s Day, my first thought was to binge shop! But then I thought it over and came to a conclusion that even though the gifts come from IGP, my kids should get to choose what they want to give me for Mother’s Day. I will admit I was skeptical about doing this. God knows what the children will pick! So I did give them some pointers on the kind of things they should look for – mostly reminding them about my love for home decor and collecting. Turns out my kids know me better that I gave them credit for!
First of all, they had a field day browsing IGP.com. It was their first time ever to actually use a shopping website. They did peek into the Kids section, but mostly stayed true to their purpose. That my daughter knows my tastes extremely well (she is a mini-me, basically) I was sure of, but it was my son who swept me off my feet! On to my gifts now 🙂
My Mother’s Day Gifts
IGP.com specialize in flowers, cakes, chocolates, personalized products, festival merchandise, kids, home & living and fashion accessories too. For some reason, Mother’s Day gifts always conjure images of pretty tea things, plates with dainty cupcakes and flowers for me. The reason for this is my obsession with the magazine Victoria I guess. So, I directed the kids to the beautiful range of Home and Kitchen decor and accessories. To my surprise, my son chose something that was straight out of my dreams!
Elegant, Victorian Tea Times
This dainty ‘Tea for One’ set is everything I could ask for, on Mother’s Day. The tea pot stacks over the cup for a pretty presentation. From the pastel green color to the vintage look and floral motifs, I am completely in love with it. It doesn’t hurt at all that the entire set arrives in a pretty round box with the same lovely print and tied with a ribbon too! Nothing says ‘Mother’s Day’ like a lovely collectible china ware packed in a pretty round box :). And the print is so decidedly vintage and romantic.
Some 12 long years back, I did an article on Mother’s Day gift ideas on one of my websites and had added such ‘Tea for One’ sets to the list. At that time though, these sets were not available in India and neither was I a mother. After all these years, it was nothing short of emotional to be receiving it for mother’s day.
But after all these years, I have become more practical in my approach. I reminded my son that I was not exactly an avid tea drinker. Perhaps, he could choose something else that might be more useful. To this, my kids laughed heartily and pointed to my collection of tea cups and kettles. Actually, they were right. Even some of you who follow my blog and social media will recollect my cottage ware teapot and pretty teacups. My daughter also assured me that she would make me ‘Green Tea’ to enjoy in that cup and insisted that I go for it as it was ‘very much me’. I did not need any further coaxing and finalized my gift number 1.
Baking Days Are Back
From throwing cupcake baking parties to cooking with kids in the kitchen, I consider myself very much a ‘baking’ mom. My kids know of my love for baking and this is clearly why my daughter chose this lovely gift set for me. It consists of an apron and a set of wooden spatulas. I absolutely adore the lovely color and floral print and you are sure to see me wearing it in my future posts. I am waiting for Mother’s Day to inaugurate it 🙂
My baking and cooking have slowed down considerably after I gave birth to my youngest daughter. But things are going back to what they used to be and I can see myself spending a lot of time baking with my kids…just like old times!
Not exactly like old times, though. My eldest daughter who has given me this wonderful gift had grown a lot in the last 2 years. I doubt she will fit into her kiddie apron anymore. Maybe I should start looking for an apron for her to wear for her baking adventures with Mamma 🙂
A little something for Grandma…
Mother’s Day holds two meanings for us moms. It is also a time to remember our own mommies who continue to be our pillars of support. I wasn’t sure my mom would be ecstatic about a personalized gift but the kids insisted that she would love a photo mug. And I think they are right after all. We tend to think our parents will prefer more ‘matured’ gifts but in reality, they do enjoy a personalized token now and then. Who doesn’t? I saw their point of view and opted for a pretty and feminine mug with her picture on one side of it.
This mug will go in addition to a bouquet, the details of which I will share later today.

The online gift store is very easy to navigate. My kids had no trouble browsing it on the mobile phone so you can safely assume it is extremely mobile-friendly. Uploading the pics for the personalized gift items was also very easy. However, unlike dedicated photo printing websites, you cannot see how your personalized gift will look in real time. But one quick call to the customer service assured me that they did not use an automated service to print. Each personalized gift was designed and printed manually to ensure the best placement of photos.
Another experience I would like to recount is the packaging. While both my fragile items (mug and tea set) were wrapped to perfection, the saucer of the tea set broke in transit. I called their customer service after checking all the items and was replied to, immediately, that a replacement saucer would be shipped to me. The saucer arrived in 2 days flat and I was left extremely impressed by their professionalism. I loved the entire shopping and gifting experience and would recommend IGP to anyone looking for lovely gift ideas.

Hey… tea set is a nyc option. This is one that will be used by all family members simultaneously. Family that eats together…. stays together. As for me, I love giving personalized gifts to my mum. This year , I have taken out all the old black & white childhood pictures of my mum…..pics in which she is a small girl holding her doll…..one in which she is posing with her siblings…..one in which she is all dressed up as a small ‘dulhan’ at the tender age of 8……there is one candid pic in which she is fighting with her brother and my grand-dad managed to capture it ! ……I have taken all these pics and made a collage so that it covers a portion of my mum’s wall room …..I’ve done this so that my mum can visit her childhood and the most precious moments of her carefree life at a glance……Right in the centre , I’ve kept a slightly larger pic of my mum’s entire family – parents ,7 bros & sis – taken on a picnic, that I managed to convert into color – This particular pic has such nice HD resolution that it looks as if it was taken yesterday ….. I know my mum will get nostalgic looking at my gift and there will be some tears as this gift will be a reminder of the best time of her life….. many family members are no longer with us , hence my mum holds her childhood memories close to her heart … this will be my gift to my mum <3
