Bollywood makes everything look even more beautiful! And when it comes to a romantic destination like Italy, watching these movies only makes me want to visit Italy right away! Although Bollywood movies have had a decided preference to Switzerland, I was thrilled to find some in my favorite country of Italy.
Here’s a comprehensive list of Bollywood songs filmed in Italy, capturing its stunning landscapes, romantic streets, and historic architecture.
Venice
1. Khuda Jaane – Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008)
Ranbir Kapoor & Deepika Padukone’s romantic song, shot across Venice’s canals and iconic landmarks. Venice, Alberobello, Capri, and Mattinata, showcasing Italy’s varied landscapes. The song also shows the unique “Trulli” houses of Alberobello in Puglia, and picturesque beaches and sea rocks in the Puglia region.
2. Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani – The Great Gambler (1979)
With Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman gliding through the canals on the city’s iconic gondolas, the song featuring the Grand Canal and St. Mark’s Square, beautifully captured the charm of Venetian waterways and its old-world European elegance. The melodious song opens with the Italian words “Amore Mio” – a moment that introduced countless Indians to the sound of the Italian language.
3. Lakh Lakh – Kambakkht Ishq (2009)
A mediocre movie at best, but it had amazing filming locations, mostly in California as Akshay Kumar’s character was based on a Hollywood stunt double. Shot in Venice, particularly around St. Mark’s Square, this song features Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor.
Rome
4. Small Town Girl – Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008)
This lesser known gem from Bachna Ae Haseeno is my favorite! It is a fun song when Bipasha’s character, after becoming a famous model, travels to Italy for a photoshoot. The song is filmed in Rome near the Spanish Steps, but clips before and after the song show her living in a beautiful villa in Capri.
Amalfi Coast & Other Beaches
5. Ghungroo – War (2019)
Finally, Bollywood was reminded of Positano – my dream destination! And they did do justice to it. This song was filmed on the Amalfi Coast, particularly in Positano, which is known for its colorful houses and stunning beach landscapes.
6. O girl, you’re mine – Housefull(2010)
This song featuring a romantic connection between Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Riteish Deshmukh, and Lara Dutta, was shot in the Apulia region of Italy, specifically at Porto Greco Beach. The sea stacks at Faraglioni di Mattinata behind the beach served as a backdrop for some shots in the song. Other filming locations for the movie included London, England, and Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, UK.
7. Ishq Jaisa Kuch– Fighter (2023)
The music video, (completely reminiscent of Gungroo+Besharam Rang), features Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone in the stunning Italian island of Sardinia at a location known as Phi Beach.

8. Kambhakst Ishq Title Song – Kambhakht Ishq (2009)
Another song from the same movie, (the other being “Lakh, Lakh” in Venice) the Kambakkht Ishq title song was filmed at Villa Cordellina in Vicenza, Italy, a picturesque town in the country’s northeast.
9. Nadaan Parindey – Rockstar (2011)
While much of the film was shot in India and Prague, the song “Nadaan Parindey” was filmed in Verona, Italy, at the Verona Arena, an ancient and iconic Roman amphitheater in Verona, Italy.
