Top Areas of Your Home Where Your Family Needs More Storage

August 12, 2022 by Lata Leave a Comment

When your home is packed with family, friends, and their stuff, it can feel like there are no spare spaces left. But if you think about it, almost every room has somewhere it could do with more storage. From the kitchen pantry to the garage and even the bathroom, almost every room has a storage problem. If you are tight on space but don’t want to spend a fortune extending or renovating your home, then read on for some brilliant ideas for adding storage in different areas of your home without breaking the bank.

The Top of Your Garage

One of the most unused parts of our homes is the top of our garages, but here are some tricks to turn that into usable space. First, you need to consider the top of your garage, as in, your ceiling. That’s right. Adding storage to the area of your garage you almost never use is a great way of giving you more places to store things. USA Overhead Racks is one type of company that can even customize racks for that particular space, so you can get it to look and function the way you want.

Next, there’s the obvious option of a car lift, which will transform your garage from a place to park your car to a full-on garage workshop. And if you don’t have room for a lift, a car lift table can do much the same thing (and are much cheaper). You’ll have plenty of storage space below, and you can even use it to work on your car. If you don’t have room for either of these options, consider a wall-mounted car lift. This frees up space below and can be easily folded away when it’s not in use.

Your Kitchen Pantry

The kitchen pantry is the king of storage, but if you are short on space or if you could use a little more, there are plenty of options that don’t require a full-scale renovation. First and foremost, think about how you organize your pantry. Is it really efficient? Can you add a few more shelves? If more space is needed, you can always add a few more shelves or create more space by removing a few cabinets to create an open shelving pantry. Or, if you have the budget, you could consider building a pantry extension. And if you need more space inside the pantry, many items can be stacked on top of one another. You can also store bulkier items inside baskets or containers to keep things organized.

Every Small Bathroom Ever

Bathrooms can be notoriously tricky when it comes to storage. But there are lots of ways to make it better. First, if you are lucky enough to have a walk-in shower, consider installing a few shelves for your toiletries. If you have limited space but want to store your toiletries under the sink, get a wall-mounted, fold-away shelving unit. These are fantastic for storing things like cleaning products, shampoos and soaps, toothpaste, makeup brushes, and more. If you have a small vanity, consider removing the drawers and turning your vanity into a shelf. Or, if you have a large vanity, you could consider adding extra storage below or on top of it. And, of course, you can always add cabinets.

Storage In Your Stairs

Stairs are a great place to add some extra storage, particularly the space between the stairs. You could mount some extra shelves or install a bookcase to make this storage space even more useful. If you have wide enough space between your stairs, you could also install drawers or even a cupboard.

Fun Bedroom Storage Options

If you are looking for ways to add more storage to your bedroom, you can always add more shelves or cabinets. But there are a few other unique ways to do it as well. If you have room, installing a Murphy bed is a great way to add extra space. These fold-up beds are a classic way to transform a small room into a larger space. Or, you could install a wall bed. These fold down from the wall and are a great way to make the most of any unused wall space.

Wrapping Up Your Storage Tips

Finally, if you have a room in your house with limited space but that could use more storage, there are many solutions. You could install a wall-mounted bookcase or magazine rack. Or you could get a fold-away table that you can put away when you don’t need it. Or you could install storage drawers that fit under your bed or in your closet. Hopefully, these storage tips will help you free up some space in your home and make it a little bit easier to navigate.
